Rock Glacier Dynamics by a Thermo-Elastic-Viscoplastic Constitutive Relationship

چکیده

As a result of mountain permafrost creep, rock glaciers are common features in high-altitude periglacial areas. From practical point view, beyond their localization and inventorying, both the monitoring prediction evolution due to climate changes crucial. One effects change is thickening basal shear zone (the portion glacier where most deformations localized), eventually leading development unexpected unprecedented (in terms location, magnitude, frequency, timing) instability phenomena. These phenomena bear consequences for understanding landscape evolution, natural hazards, safe sustainable operation high-mountain infrastructures. Most studies about active focused on analysis data, while just few modeling behavior understand possible further evolution. The response characterized by viscous (rate-dependent) behavior, influenced seasonal temperature oscillations, transition from slow fast. In this work, new thermo-mechanical model based delayed plasticity theory calibrated experimental results proposed. employed evaluate influence geometry forcing (air temperature) real (Murtèl-Corvatsch glacier) creep behavior.

The Variational Formulation of Viscoplastic Constitutive Updates

We present a class of constitutive updates for general viscoplastic solids including such aspects of material behavior as nite elastic and plastic deformations, non-Newtonian viscosity, rate-sensitivity and arbitrary ow and hardening rules. The distinguishing characteristic of the proposed constitutive updates is that, by construction, the corresponding incremental stress-strain relations deriv...

Reactive Flow in a Natural Fracture in Poro-thermo-elastic Rock

Poro-thermo-mechanical processes and mineral precipitation/dissolution change the fracture aperture and thus affect the fluid flow pattern in the fracture. In this paper, we study this phenomenon by further development and application of a three-dimensional thermo-poro-mechanical model to include silica dissolution-precipitation effects. The solid mechanics aspect of the problem is treated usin...

Estimation of Rock Glacier Dynamics by Environmental Modelling and Automatic Photogrammetric Technics

The development of this article follows the search for a technique that automates the modelling and dynamics of any natural (dunes, slipping of mountainsides, glaciers...) or artificial (collapsing of buildings...) structure. In this study, the dynamics of the Argualas rock glacier (Pyrenees-Spain) has been investigated since 1991. A peculiarity of rocks glaciers is their sensitivity to environ...

Elastic convection in vibrated viscoplastic fluids.

We observe a new type of behavior in a shear-thinning yield stress fluid: freestanding convection rolls driven by vertical oscillation. The convection occurs without the constraint of container boundaries, yet the diameter of the rolls is spontaneously selected for a wide range of parameters. The transition to the convecting state occurs without hysteresis when the amplitude of the plate accele...
